The Foundation awards scholarships to students who maintain above average grades and complete the application process. The Foundation offers awards that are renewable for a four year period.
The special Frederick J. Carter Scholarship is awarded to African American males who demonstrate academic excellence, community service and dynamic leadership.
College Scholarships awarded annually to qualified students who maintain satisfactory
grade level.
The Frederick J. Carter Scholarship will be awarded to a graduating African-American male high school senior entering an accredited four-year college. $2,500 will be paid each year to the winner, over the course of four enrolled years of college. This scholarship is open to all African-American male high school seniors in the south suburban area of Chicago, Illinois and northwest, Indiana.
Selected students must demonstrate academic excellence and awards are based on GPA, class rank, extracurricular activities, and leadership.
CANDIDATE CRITERIA:
1. African-American Male.
2. You must be a graduating High School Senior of a South Suburban Chicago, Illinois or Northwest Indiana High School entering an accredited four-year college.
3. Proof of college enrollment will be required before any monetary amount is paid to the recipient.
4. You must have at least a 3.25 average GPA in high school and maintain a minimum 3.00 average GPA on a 4.0 scale while in college.
1. One college acceptance letter.
2. List of extracurricular activities, community involvement, honors and awards.
3. List all scholarships received, if any.
4. Official academic transcript and ACT/SAT scores
5. Two letters of recommendation from former or current teachers describing why you should be selected for this scholarship.
6. An autobiographical essay; no more than 300 words.
7. One (1) School Counselor/Representative Letter: Verifying: Class Rank, GPA, ACT/SAT Scores.
8. A recent photo must be provided.
The deadline to apply is March 31st.

Victor A. Rounds was a mentee of the Delta Sigma Boulé Foundation’s affiliate Victors Program of Homewood-Flossmoor High School and a scholarship recipient of the Delta Sigma Boulé Foundations Student Success Project.
He is a 2018 graduate of Vanderbilt and is an MBA candidate at Howard University with a 4.0 GPA.
Victor is already giving back to his community by founding the Young Successors & Leaders Scholarship and Mentoring Program that supports graduates of his high school (Homewood Flossmoor) with monetary gifts, new laptops, reading material, and mentorship from a network of alums that smooth the transition into college life.
